The huge weekend focuses on everything underwater from showing people how fun it is to breathe underwater, to seminars to fantastic travel around the world and right at home. This show will be an exciting weekend of adventure and fun.

Divers will plunge for prizes at Owen Beach in Tacoma, Friday May 21, 2010. This event is bigger and better than ever. There will be more room for divers to park, set up and dive. Every golf ball represents a great prize. Grab thousands of dollars in exotic trips, local charters, drysuits, wetsuits, regulators, computers and more. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.; dive at 11:30 a.m. Contestants must pick up their prizes at the Expo.
Hit Dive & Travel Expo with your best underwater shots. All amateurs are eligible to enter this terrific contest that’s packed with prizes. Entry deadline is May 1st. Meet and learn with guest speakers from all over the country who present the hottest topics in scuba. Get tips from professionals on underwater photography and videography, update your diving skills and discover great new certification options. Learn what organizations are doing to rehabilitate Puget Sound and how you can get involved.
Meet dive shop owners and manufacturers, resort owners, dive travel managers and touch the latest in new products from leading manufacturers who produce the world’s best dive equipment.
Non-divers can try scuba free in our demo pool. Get a free lesson from scuba professionals in our large indoor heated pool. All equipment including suits will be provided. Just bring a good attitude!
Held on Saturday from 10am-2pm, Deep Ambitions is a 4-hour education based enrichment program designed for middle and high school students (12-18) that provides an opportunity for students to learn about and experience scuba diving and aquatic-related careers. *Parental consent forms must be signed at the time of registration.
Four Scheduled Sessions
- Marine/Dive Industry Professional Presentations. This session features 5-minute presentations by 10 exciting and entertaining speakers from various marine related careers. This will feature a contest where the speakers are competing against each other for who has the “coolest” job. The students will vote and decide the winner.
- Show Tour: Groups will be broken down into smaller groups of 8-10 students. Each group will be provided a guide who will lead them to selected exhibitors on the show floor. These exhibitors will give a 5 minute introduction into their career field and why students might find future employment fun and rewarding.
- Marine Art Session (with a twist): This session will be given from a designated art area where world renowned artist, Rogest, will talk with each group about art and the underwater environment. Students will have the opportunity to create a collaborative work of art. The final canvas will be auctioned off at the Saturday night film festival and the money raised will go towards a non-profit scholarship fund.
- Try Scuba Free: During this time students will have the chance to Try Scuba for Free. Students must have proper permission slips signed by parents in order to participate in this exciting event. Suits and gear are provided. Permission slips must be signed at the time of registration or the student will not be able to participate.
Charge your batteries for Saturday evening. Starting at 6 p.m., mix and mingle with industry leaders and other dedicated Northwest divers at the HOST HOTEL during a no host cocktail hour. Excitement will mount as divers wait for the photo and video contest winners to be announced. From 7 to 9 p.m., congratulate winners and enjoy award-winning films from dive sites that circle the globe.
At 9 p.m., let’s get the party started as divers rock during the Divers’ Party at the Hotel Murano – Host Hotel (closest to Convention Center). Dance the night away with a live band and mix it up with your dive buddies.
Dive for prizes at the Treasure Hunt. See and meet professionals at the Convention Center. See incredible photos and videos at the film festival Saturday. Party like rock stars at the Diver’s Party on Saturday night. Sunday see exhibits one more time, attend seminars and learn more about the great sport and lifestyle that is scuba diving.
