OK – we learned our lesson, we fixed the Treasure Hunt prizes and moved
it to FRIDAY!
Last years’ Treasure Hunt was both good and bad. The good turnout by divers and great running of the event by Walt Amidon and the Puget Sound Depth Chargers Dive Club was marred by the bad handling of the distribution of the prizes.
“We blew it” said Event Director Rick Stratton. “Without going into the details, what was supposed to be fair and random ended up only being random by first name. If you had a first name like Allen, Bill or Chris you got a great prize, like a trip to Honduras but if you had a name like Tom, Susan or Wendy, you got a snorkel… not
good!” said Stratton.
“This year we have many changes. In order to accommodate the tides and improve safety, we moved the Treasure Hunt to Friday at 11:30 a.m. We also have a new Treasure Hunt Prize Coordinator, Mike Nebel of Roberta’s Custom Graphics in Tacoma. Mike is dive instructor with lots of experience doing the Treasure Hunt. Mike was tired of us “doing it wrong” so he volunteered to head the prize committeew to “fix” it for everyone. We are happy to have him on board and will do everything we can do make this year’s Treasure Hunt an awesome event for everyone” – Rick Stratton
